Uniforms, Ranks, Promotion Requirements and Local Awards
The time period for our Ship is Star Trek: Nemesis and later, so we encourage uniforms from that period. However, uniforms from other eras and sources (ie: Mirror Universe and Star Trek Online are perfectly acceptable as long as only proper rank and earned awards are displayed.
NOTE: Uniforms add to the spirit and fun of our group, especially on special occasions and at public events, but are NOT REQUIRED. Some events may necessitate that our members be easily identifiable. Club Shirts are available for purchase for those not wishing to wear a uniform or for casual or working occasions where a nice (sometimes expensive) uniform may be inappropriate.

PROMOTION POINTS & REQUIREMENTS
In order to ensure that every person in the Chapter is fairly treated and rewarded for their efforts, promotions are awarded based primarily on Promotion Points earned by the individual based on their participation in Chapter, Regional and Fleet level activities and events. With some ranks, there may be additional requirements, which are listed here. Promotions require a minimum 3 months in the previous rank and some higher ranks, such as Flag Ranks, may require longer terms. The Chapter Commanding Officer may only promote members up to the rank of Commander. Higher promotions require submission to and approval by the STARFLEET Executive Committee.
Awarded to a crewmember who does a little extra in assisting the club during an event or project.
Order of Orleans
Awarded usually on a deptmental basis, but the recipient is not required to belong to the awarding department.
Sword of St. Catherine
This is awarded to a person for actions benefiting and distinguishing the club as a whole. Recipient is not required to be a member of the crew.
Star of the Maiden (Silver)
This award is presented by the XO and is also known as the Executive Officer's commendation. Persons receiving this award have shown exemplary behavior and devotion to the JOA - consistently going above and beyond the call of duty on behalf of the ship.
Star of the Maiden (Gold)
Presented by the CO. Recipients of this award show the same outstanding qualities as those who receive silver, but now it's in relation to not only the JOA, but to Region 3 and possibly Starfleet as a whole.
Special Awards
Blood of Tourelles
Presented to a crewmember who is injured at a chapter meeting or event.
This is our Chapter's version of the Purple Heart.
Maiden's Mercy (Silver)
This is the Chief Medical Officer's commendation awarded to a Crewmember who provides basic aid to someone in need or contributes over a period of time to the improvement of a person(s) quality of life through their actions.
Maiden's Mercy (Gold)
This is the Chief Medical Officer's highest award, given to a crewmember whose actions contribute to saving a life, member or not, through either summoning aid for a critically injured or ailing person or providing life-saving aid themselves.
Order of Saint Joan of Arc
Awarded to a crewmember who, through diligence, perseverance, and plain hard work have achieved a significant goal which brings honor to themselves, this Chapter and possibly (but not necessarily) the Region and STARFLEET as a whole. Also awarded for each "Five Year Mission" a crewmember completes (5 years consecutive meritorious (contributing) service to the U.S.S. Joan Of Arc)
This is the highest honor the USS Joan of Arc can give to a crewmember. It symbolizes the ideals of Gene Roddenberry's vision and the personification of all that is considered to be good, noble, and honorable between sentient beings.
Annual Awards
Standard Bearer
An honor conferred annually upon a single crewmember who is seen by the crew to have the most enthusiasm, participation, and willingness to assist. The Standard Bearer is responsible for bringing the ship's banner safely to and from meetings and other ship's events.
An Alternate Standard Bearer is also selected who fulfills these duties if the chosen Standard Bearer, for whatever reason, cannot. This person is awarded 75 points, regardless of whether they ever have to assume the post or not and has half of the following year's local Dues paid for
Ship's Ambassador
Awarded to an individual or business that has contributed significantly over the past year to the success of the U.S.S. Joan Of Arc's operation and/or projects through the donation of time, meeting/event space, discounted or donated services, puiblicity, etc.. In addition to the year of honorary membership, the person (or a single representative if a company is chosen) is treated to dinner at the Ship's Anniversary Party following their selection, where they are presented with the award.
Every 10 years, an Ambassador of the Decade is selected by a majority vote of the crew from the Ambassadors of the past 10 years. That person / business, upon winning, is treated to dinner at the next Anniversary party, presented with a plaque and awarded permanent Honorary Membership to this Chapter.
